Frequently asked questions
Quick, practical answers for common GridLife questions.
Accounts and login
How do I create a GridLife account?
Wear the GridLife HUD. Your avatar is registered automatically the first time the HUD connects.
Does GridLife need my Second Life password?
No. The website uses a temporary login code generated by your HUD. Never enter your Second Life password on GridLife.
Why did my login code expire?
Codes are intentionally short-lived and single-use. Generate a new code from the HUD and enter it promptly.
HUD and player stats
Why are my stats changing?
Energy, Hunger, Hydration, Bladder, and Hygiene decay gradually while the HUD is active. Health is affected when other needs become low and falls faster when needs become critical.
Why did the HUD not update immediately?
Use Refresh after an item or furniture interaction. Current supported products also send a fast refresh signal automatically.
Can new stats be added later?
Yes. Stats use definitions and values instead of fixed database columns, so new active stats can be added without breaking older items.
Items, assets, and wallet funds
Where are my purchased or harvested items stored?
They appear in your persistent GridLife asset inventory. Compatible vendors, deliveries, harvesting, and crafting all use the same storage.
Can wallet funds be withdrawn?
No. Deposited wallet funds are for spending inside GridLife and cannot be withdrawn or converted back to L$.
Why can’t I use someone else’s consumable?
The object’s access setting may be Owner or Group. The owner can change supported consumables to Owner, Group, or Everyone from the object menu.
Farming, animals, and veterinary care
Do farms and animals survive region restarts?
Yes. Their important state is stored on the server. Updated scripts re-register after rez, owner changes, and region restarts.
How long does a full trough last?
One trough unit restores 10% of the matching need. With the standard decay rate, two continuously active cows take roughly five to six days to consume a full 100-unit water, feed, or hay trough.
Can animals become ill or die?
Yes. Poor care increases illness risk, contagious diseases can spread between nearby animals, and untreated critical health or prolonged neglect can be fatal. Owners receive a critical warning before death.
Can a veterinarian treat another player’s animal?
Only with permission. The Vet HUD requests access and the animal prompts its owner to approve or deny a temporary 30-minute treatment window.
Creators and product setup
Where can I get current scripts?
Use the manual and download library. Administrators can also use script generators in the management portal.
Will updates work with no-copy objects?
The GridLife updater is designed around a delivery-server workflow so replacement products can be delivered without requiring the installed object itself to be copyable.
What should I include when reporting a problem?
Include the object name and version, the exact local-chat error, your avatar name, the approximate time, and the action you were attempting.
