GRIDLife VETERINARY HUD MANUAL Version 1.0 =============================== 1. Purpose ---------- The GridLife Veterinary HUD lets a player practice the Veterinary profession in Second Life. It finds nearby GridLife animals, requests owner consent, examines health, displays diagnoses, performs approved procedures, and records care. 2. Setup -------- 1. Create or edit a HUD object. 2. Add the current gridlife_vet_hud.lsl script to its root prim. 3. Wear the HUD. 4. Touch it and choose Status. The HUD creates your Veterinary profession record automatically and displays your level and XP as hover text. The animal must run gridlife_animal.lsl v2.3 or newer for owner consent prompts, current health state, and animal mortality support. 3. Finding an animal -------------------- Touch the HUD and choose Scan. The server returns up to nine living GridLife animals that checked in recently, are in the same region, and are within 20 meters of your avatar. Select A1, A2, and so on to choose an animal. 4. Permission and consent ------------------------- You can examine and treat your own animals immediately. For another player's animal, choose Request. The owner touches their animal and receives an Allow or Deny dialog naming the veterinarian. Approval lasts for 30 minutes. The animal and veterinarian must remain in the same region and within 20 meters. 5. Examination -------------- Choose Examine after access is approved. The HUD reports species, sex, owner, health, mood, care needs, active diagnosis, severity, and required treatment. A wellness exam awards Veterinary XP once per animal every five minutes. 6. Procedures and supplies -------------------------- Choose Procedures to see available and locked care. Procedure requirements are controlled by the website and may include: - A minimum Veterinary level. - A matching active illness or disease. - Medication or professional supplies in your GridLife asset storage. - Low health for emergency stabilization. - A pregnancy within its final hour for assisted birth. Select P1, P2, and so on to perform an unlocked procedure. Required supplies are removed only when the procedure can be completed. Successful procedures award Veterinary XP and notify the animal owner. 7. Medical history ------------------ Choose History to review the animal's ten most recent veterinary records. Exams, treatments, vaccinations, critical warnings, and deaths are stored on the server. 8. Illness, quarantine, and death --------------------------------- Animal illnesses can occur randomly, become more likely during poor care, or spread between nearby compatible animals when marked contagious. Quarantine can reduce contact while an animal is being treated. Low needs and illness damage can reduce health. The owner receives an urgent warning at critical health. At zero health the animal is marked deceased and the current animal script removes the in-world object. Deceased records remain visible to the owner and administrators. 9. Troubleshooting ------------------ No animals found: - Move within 20 meters. - Confirm both objects are in the same region. - Touch or reset the animal so it checks in with the server. - Confirm the animal is living and uses the current script. Owner approval required: - Choose Request. - Ask the owner to touch the animal and select Allow. - Retry within 30 minutes while staying nearby. Supply missing: - Check the required item name shown under Procedures. - Confirm the item is in the veterinarian's website asset storage. Procedure locked: - Gain Veterinary XP through exams and successful care until the required level. 10. Current products -------------------- Veterinary HUD and animal script source is private. Use official GridLife products. Administrators can retrieve current source through authenticated website tools. Documentation center: https://gridlifesl.com/manuals
